Battle

1500p mostly boyz (3x10 regular, 10 kommandos and 10 storm), gretchin (3x10 + Red gobbo) but also Ghaz, makari and 6 meganobx, 2 buggies and a mek gun.

I went up against a castellan knight with serious dakka (though, as it turned out, not enough) and Astra militarum (3x Leman russ, Hellhound and lots of humies).

I mostly play OPR with my boyz so I did lots of rookie mistakes like not checking my stratagems. I did dajump but forgot ere-we-go etc etc. But it was my opponents first game of 10th too so I think it evened out. In the end, for us it was more important to get together and have a good time. Mission accomplished.

We played Only-war because I forgot the deck of cards I got for 10th. It was a fun game. As usual when I play against AM I have to push forward and will die in droves to humie dakka. The first turn of humie dakka was very bad because of Gork and Mork (dierolls). I had charged my kommandos into the first line of humies and krumped some of them. They then had to spend lots of dakka to deal with them. Distraction grot was very good and saved them way beyond what was expected.

Over the following turns I kept the pressure up. I called Waaagh in third turn when most of my boyz were dead but not Ghaz. He would krump two Leman Russes and nearly the third. That claw is really something. The Humies poured all the dakka on him (Moar! MOAR!) but Makari just waved his banner and saved everything until the last turn when he finally died.

The red gobbo did a heroic advance on one flank and was, together with 10 gretchin and a runt herd met by the castellan who asked: Got any presents for me? The red gobbo actually survived two turns of the castellan but finally caught a melta shot to the face and lost the last wound.
